EVALUATION:
I wrote a piece of feature journalism for 'VIBE' magazine. my article was about whether illegal file sharing was destroying the music industry. i felt that the magazine was mainly for an audience of both males and females who are into RnB and HipHop between, id say, the ages of 16-25.other than using the information already given to me, i also did some research of my own. while looking on the internet for some vaid information i came across lily allen's blog which provided me with some facts about the affects of illegal file sharing, as well as the views of someone who is part of the music industry. i also made sure to get information that was reliable so, i avoided websites such as wikipedia. after all the research i had to do, i developed the ability to skim and scan through text to pick up the key information needed and also, im much better at note taking which makes writing up something, like a piece of feature journalism, a lot easier.
to be honest, i found writing something like an article very unatural as it isnt something ive done a lot of in the past, so i found it a bit of a challenge. However, after i took notes and broke it down into sections and bulletpoints, i found it alot easier to write out, as it was more organised and ready to be formed into an article. because i formed bullet points and ordered how i was going to write it, i didnt find structuring it much of a challenge. also, because ive done a lot of work on structure. although i do not talk the way i type, i do not find it much of a challenge to change my style of language, i dont find myself using colloquialism when writing.
when it came to using in design, i felt very comfortable. over all i felt that it wasnt to difficult to use. i used guidelines to set out where the text and images would be and text boxes to add text into. one thing i found a bit challenging was adding imagine as it wasnt just simply, copying and pasting images. i had to save images from google on to my documents, then had to insert it into in design, to my article. i feel i now have a good understanding of how to use in design and feel i could easily use it again.
i found setting up a blog on blogger.com very simple and easy to do. however, the network (firewall) made it very difficult for me to carry out, what was meant to be, a very easy task.
overall, the one thing i feel i need to improve is my journalistic writing skills. i feel with more practise i will find it a lot easier and it will improve and become more effective.
